Big Merino plays original music that blur the lines between rock, country, blues, roots, soul and pop.
Despite an obvious passion for what’s often termed ‘Americana' their music somehow manages to sound sounds quintessentially Australian - the words and sounds shaped by the landscape and our own stories.
2018 was a big year for the newly formed band - they released their debut album ’Suburban Wildlife’ thru the Foghorn label (great reviews below), made two cinematic filmclips with director Alan Harca (links above), and performed all around Sydney.
In July 2019 the band is releasing a 2nd album ‘Sweet Little Angel’ and plans to tour and perform at various festivals around the country, starting with Murringo and Quandialla in June, Canberra in August.
The band has done Interviews & live-to-air performances on ABC 702 & RN, 2SER Dirt Music, Radio Skid Row, Eastside Radio, Aussie Music Weekly and 2BBB. The single ‘Black Cockatoos' was top 10 on AMRAP Metro and Regional playlists in 2018
