Tathra Hotel Monthly News Letter - May 2026
MAY GREETINGS!
The busy holiday seasons are behind us for another year, although numbers did seem to be down a bit over Easter. It has been very encouraging seeing the positive response to the theatre events and gives us a lot of confidence in future programming. Big thank you to Andrew Gray (from Crimson Rosella Creative Adventures) who has helped get the venue up and running.
HEADLAND THEATRE
Headland Theatre has been open for just over a month and we’ve welcomed more than 700 people through the doors, including for our diverse Open Day programme. Feedback from our audience survey shows the theatre is already a much-loved, high-quality venue, with people enjoying the intimate feel, great acoustics and strong connection to the community. Many are excited about what’s ahead, keen to see a mix of programming and planning to come back.
We have a range of events coming up including some classical music and the first of what we hope to be a regular programme of arthouse films. In June our friends from the Fungi Festival will be presenting a film screening, collage event and author conversations.

May 14 - Youth Short Films - encore screening
May 15 - A Tribute to Carole King & James Taylor: SOLD OUT.

May 23 - Heath Cullen and Kevin Welch - master musicians and songwriters
June 11 - The Partridge Quartet - our first classical concert presented in conjunction with Musica Viva. Should be a real treat given the exceptional accoustics.
June 13 - Planet Fungi film and book launch
June 20 - Author event - "Recipe For Murder" Duncan McNab talks about his book on the mushroom murders.

KITCHEN
Book tables for Mother’s Day
Tibin and his team again did an excellent job with the free breakfast / morning tea on Anzac Day - a really nice community event.
Mother’s Day is usually busy so book your tables for May 10. The kitchen will be putting on a special seafood platter.
In the quieter times pizza will only be available on Sundays. Our popular Sunday roast will continue.
The hotel is open every day from 8am for breakfast or just a coffee.
BREWERY
Simon advises that they will be re-releasing our Little Lost Pod West Coast XPA (4.7%) with which we have now added the delightful burst of terpene power! Simon’s unique tasting notes follow….
"Little Lost Pod West Coast XPA "
This terpene and hop packed extra pale ale is not to be underestimated. The selection of classic American hops with Cascade and Chinook derived terpenes packs all the punch of a big, bright and bold West Coast IPA, without the excessive hit of IBU's or high alcohol. Delivering you huge notes of floral grapefruit, fresh orange, citrus and just enough dank resin to balance it all out. Make no mistake, this is not a session IPA at 20 IBU, just a fantastic hybrid we like to call West Coast XPA!

The popular SESSION will be on Friday May 1 from 6pm (fast session) and May 15 (slow session). The guitar sing-along session will be on Thursday May 21 from 5:30pm.

POETS BREAKFAST - OPEN MIC
May 24: 9am - 11am Free entry
“Poets Breakfast - Open Mic” will be on the fourth Sunday of each month from 9am - 11am. A local group Ocean Mic Poets will host the events. Free entry. The next one will be on May 24.

FUNGI FEASTIVAL COLLAGE FORAGE WORKSHOP
On June 17 there will be a Fungi Feastival event at the hotel - Collage Forage (Workshop). Pre registration is essential and costs $25pp. For tickets/more information visit https://www.trybooking.com/DKBMG or Fungi Feastival website.
There is now a piano in the bar and is not there just for hired musicians - if anyone feels like playing ask the bar staff for a key.
HEADLAND WRITERS FESTIVAL
Oct. 23-25
Planning is well underway for this year's event on October 23 - 25. Earlybird passes will be on sale soon. More info at their website (www.headlandfestival.com.au).
