Tathra Hotel Monthly News Letter - MAY 2018
The quieter time of the year is here and we have no idea what to expect as we have never operated the hotel through the winter – it was about this time two years ago that we closed for renovations. Contrary to some of the interesting rumours that float around town the hotel will be open every day through the winter, although it is likely we will open a bit later each morning – lunch and dinner will be available every day. Gary is planning some menu changes for winter.
Mother’s Day is on May 13th – here is the Mother's Day Bistro menu. we already have a number of bookings for lunch and dinner and the “Jazz Alley” will be performing from 4pm in the afternoon. LIVE MUSIC (Click for more details) will be on every Sunday afternoon through the colder months from 4 – 7pm. On May 20th we will be hosting "The Martin & Mills Music Company" – two of the Bega Valley’s most musical families are coming together for what will be a very entertaining afternoon. The following Sunday we welcome Lucy Wise, a talented singer songwriter from Western Australia.
Friday May 11th sees our first OPEN MIC NIGHT – performers of all ages welcome – music, dance, poetry etc. Email us (firstname.lastname@example.org) to register.
Lovers of CRAFT BEER will be pleased to know that we recently ordered the equipment for the brewery. Like most stuff these days, it is made in China and we expect it to be shipped here in a few months and hopefully brewing in the springtime. We have just changed some of our tap beers to beers that are perhaps better suited to winter – we have a Evil Eye Red IPA from Capital Brewing Co, Pact Beer Co’s Brickworks Brown Ale together with a couple of beers from the popularBentSpoke Brewing Co in Canberra.
Michael Drew, our new manager has moved into the house next door with his wife Christine and their three boys. They have settled in well and getting their heads around the hotel and life on the coast.
The four new “Heritage” rooms above the bar are proving popular with travellers. The budget motel rooms have also been popular with the various people involved in bushfire recovery. All the accommodation can be booked online through the hotel’s website.
The TROVE, the antique, art & collectable shop and the Cool Room Gallery are now closed but possibly open by appointment. It will re-open for the June Long Weekend.
