Tathra Hotel Monthly News Letter - MAR. 2018
THE BEGINNING OF MARCH marks the end of Summer and the start of Autumn, for us on the Far South Coast the best season of the year – nice weather and the sea is usually a lovely temperature for a swim.
We continue to be surprised by the number of people coming to the hotel – there have been lots of tourists enjoying our beautiful area, taking advantage of lower rates for accommodation, the only patrolled beach in the area and without the crowds of school holiday time.
It’s been terrific seeing good attendance for our live music; the performers are all really enjoying playing here and the level of appreciation from the audience. It’s also interesting for us as many of the acts we haven’t seen before either. The music continues through March. This month we welcome some acts back for their first shows since we reopened – Bob Porter’s Down South Syncopators, The Novellas and Sam Martin and The Sundowners over Easter. Acclaimed singer / songwriter Fred Smith will be here for the first time. Note that on Sat. March 3 and Sat. March 24 there will be no music as we have wedding receptions booked in the dining room. Our Irish connection continues in March with a one off performance by Susan O’Neill on March 22.
Now that things have quietened down a bit, Gary and his kitchen crew have the time to have more specials available. They are looking at a revamp of the menu for Autumn. Remember that we do take bookings for the dining area, but not the outside areas or the bar.
We are just about to order the equipment for the brewery – our consultants are finalising pricing on some items and hope to be brewing sometime in the springtime.
Many of you will have met Emma, our licensee / manager. Emma did a terrific job getting the hotel set up prior to reopening but sadly she has had to leave to deal with some nasty health issues. We all hope she makes a full recovery and is able to return here in the future.
The four new “Heritage” rooms above the bar are proving popular with travellers. All the accommodation can be booked on line through the hotel’s website.
The TROVE, the antique, art & collectable shop is next door to the hotel. Open Friday to Monday through March from 10am – 4.30pm or by appointment on other time. Sharon and Werner have dome an amazing transformation on the old coolroom – what was a quite unappealing space is now a smart little gallery. Contact for the TROVE shop: Sharon Stevens 048 734 7110
