The Go-Betweens were one of the most internationally influential indie rock bands from Australia, formed by guitarists Robert Forster and Grant McLennan in Brisbane in 1977. This gig showcases music from the six albums released in the late 70s and 80s, including songs such as Cattle and Cane, Spring Rain, Streets of Your Town, Bye Bye Pride and Right Here. The Go-Betweens are remembered as a band ahead of the curve who strived to be different and who have had a lasting influence. To help the audience get into the mood, the first set will feature Indie music from the era including songs from The Triffids, Elvis Costello, The Cure, Talking Heads and The Smiths, to name but a few.
The band celebrating the music of the era is led by Andrew Gray (vocals/keys), with Myoung Jae Yi (bass), Steve Fitzgerald (bass), Joe Fragnito (drums/percussion), Georgi Hargraves (oboe, sax, flute) and Dave Harris (guitar/vocals). These musicians have featured in many local bands including The Novellas, Jonathan Richman Experience, Wrack and Ruin and The Figmentz.
