The Novellas are a 5-piece band from the Bega Valley on the Far South Coast of NSW, Australia. Our songs are inspired by contemporary works of fiction from Australia and beyond. Sparse & atmospheric, The Novellas paint in song the evocations of the printed word and celebrate the emotional power of storytelling.

The Novellas concept was born when singer/songwriter Myoung Jae Yi used his book reading hangovers as raw material for his songwriting contributions to the Candelo Songwriters Club led by Phil Moriarty of the Black Sea Gentlemen. The result is a rich tapestry of jazz-infused, folk-rock pop songs that capture the bittersweet literature that inspires them.

The lineup is Myoung Jae Yi on guitar and vocals, bassist Robyn Martin, Anna Martin on drums, Andrew Gray on piano and Georgina Hargraves on woodwinds.
