Jess Becks vocals soar over the dark tangle of psychedelic guitar, funk bass and fluid drumming. At times the music seems to burst with energy, and then be contrasted by moments that simmer with a quiet intensity. The four-piece are quickly gaining a reputation for their unique brand of psych-pop and dynamic live show. The members of the band hail from regional Australia, although they met and formed Pirra in Sydney. They currently reside in the Eastern Suburbs, where they might be found in a backyard, having frank discussions while drinking red wine.
